Ancient American is an open forum for anyone, regardless of academic background, to share their discoveries and ideas about the prehistory of our country with readers across the nation and around the world. As an exercise in freedom of thought, we welcome the participation of amateurs, in addition to professionals. In turn, public input is accepted and encouraged. Feel free to contact us about subscriptions, book orders, back issue requests, change of address, article submissions, advertising, books for review, and general information. Article submissions are encouraged, but must meet our requirements, see below. Most of our staff individually are available by email and are linked to the right of this page. Advertising Year 2000 Rates Effective January 2000
If you want to advertise in the Ancient American magazine or on the Ancient American website, you can contact us by the means at the top left of this page. Please read the following three columns of information to get prices and information on the kinds of ads you would like to place.
WWW: Submit gif or jpeg images through the means noted in the article submission section. Please keep ad file size small, as not to slow page loading for our customers. Web ads are only available in 1/16 and 1/4 sizes at this time. Prices are:
PRINT: Please follow these instructions in addition to those in the article submission section. NOTE: PC users, use common fonts or TrueType, so we can convert them on Macintosh. All display ads should be so indicated on the envelope; "Photos, Do Not Bend". Printing Process: Sheet Fed
Black plus 1 color buys are limited to the available second color. All material due within 5 days after closing. Insert Rates quoted on request. All display ads submitted must be accompanied by camera ready artwork. 4-color requires 133-150 line screen, right reading, emulsion side down. Color separated negatives or matchprints required. |
The Voice of Alternative Viewpoints
The purpose of The Ancient American is twofold: to report in layman's language the variety of ancient artifacts found in the Americas and to open a forum for discussion between the professional and the avocational archaeologist. Issue Published bimonthly, six times per year. February 1st, April 1st, June 1st, August 1st, October 1st and December 1st. Closing: February Issue.......................January 15th Circulation Distribution is in every state and worldwide. The Barnes & Noble and B. Dalton book stores are our largest chain outlet.
Cancellation: No cancellation accepted by publication after Closing Date. Cancellation must be in writing. Commissions/Cash Discount Agency commission 15%. Net due 30 days. 1% monthly service charge on unpaid balance after 30 days. First time advertisers required to pay in advance.
NOTE: Publisher reserves the right to hold advertiser and/or advertising agency jointly and severally liable for such monies as are due and payable to the publisher.
Advertising Agreement: The publisher reserves the right to accept or decline any advertising. The advertiser assumes liability for all advertising content (including text, representations and illustrations of advertising printed ) and also assures responsibility for any claims arising thereof made against the publisher. An advertisement which simulates editorial content will be prefaced by the word "Advertisement". When an insertion order does not correspond to the published
rate schedule, it is regarded as a clerical error and is charged at
the rate and terms on the rate card. When copy changes for a
scheduled insertion are not received by the closing date, the last
ad run will be inserted. Publication of an advertisement
demonstrates acceptance by the publisher. Prior to publication,
there is no obligation or liability on the publisher.  |

Submitted manuscripts and photos or images can be print or digital in origin. The can be sent via mail, fax·, email, or digital storage media. Printed submissions must be typewritten, double spaced, original, and clean for scanning and OCR purposes. Physical photos should be sent in color in the best quality possible. For computer users, we operate on Apple Macintosh System 9.1 and publish our magazine in QuarkXpress. We accept digital photos and manuscripts from both Macintosh and PC users. Images should be in Adobe Photoshop, JPEG, TIFF, PICT, EPS, GIF, or .BMP format. Preferred Macintosh file formats are; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, QuarkXpress 3+, ASCII Text, Adobe Acrobat PDF, HTML, and Apple or ClarisWorks. Required DOS or Windows PC file formats are: Microsoft Word 5.1+, Microsoft Works, PDF, ASCII, Text, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Excel. Disk media accepted for submission, whether PC or Mac is; CD, 3.5" floppy disc (2MB, 1.4MB, or 800K), Iomega Jaz 1GB and Zip and 100MB disks. Files sent as email attachments should be under one megabyte in size. Along with all digital disk submissions, please enclose a clean hard copy for our reference.
The Ancient American cannot guarantee the return of any submitted materials, so keep copies of all your work, which must be accompanied by a postage-paid, return envelope for our response. Copyright is your responsibility. Be sure you have written permission for use of the art or photos submitted. Payment is three copies of the issue in which your work appears.
